Brandon Jennings was born on September 23, 1989 in Compton, CA. Jennings started playing basketball at Gardena’s Rowley Park when he was five years old. He played for Dominguez in Compton, California along with the So-Cal All Stars AAU team. Before his junior year, Brandon Jennings transferred to powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, where he averaged 32.7 points, 7.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds during his senior season. At Oak Hill Academy, Jennings was named 2008 Naismith Male Player of the Year, 2008 Parade Magazine Player of the Year, 2008 EA Sports National Player of the Year, 2007-08 MaxPreps National Player of the Year and was rated the #1 senior by ESPN.
Brandon Jennings is a 6’1 point guard who was regarded as the nation’s best high school player at his position in 2007-08, played professionally for Lottomatica Virtus Roma in Italy immediately following his high school career. Jennings would be the first American to bypass college and play professionally overseas. He was selected 10th overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Brandon was also the first basketball athlete to be a spokesman for Under Armour. Brandon Jennings is admired not only for his sports ability; while playing in Italy, he donated $50,000 for the reconstruction of the city of L'Aquila affected by the earthquake.
